African Studies at Kyoto University is world-renowned for its unique fieldwork-based research methods and original research results. At the core of the Center for African Area Studies (CAAS), there are many faculties, the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies (ASAFAS), the Graduate School of Science, the Graduate School of Agriculture, the Graduate School of Engineering, the Graduate School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Letters, and the Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, and many other institutions which continue to research in African nations.
As a core activity of the African Studies Network in Kyoto University, CAAS has been providing publication support grants since AY2011. CAAS provides publication support grants to young scholars who are studying and working at Kyoto University or who have completed their degrees, to support the publication of their outstanding research results.
