International workshop on Medical-ZAIRAICHI, a Medical-Local Knowledge Research Network
内容
This workshop aims to explore the possibilities of inter-disciplinary/international collaboration in medical-zairaichi (zairaichi means local knowledge in Japanese) to understand how local people prevent diseases and maintain health while embracing both modern biomedical and local practices. Based on our research processes and outcomes, such as maternal and child health in Tanzania, community health activities in Ethiopia, lifestyle diseases in Tanzania and locally occurring chronic diseases in Uganda, this workshop will discuss how local healthcare practices are being realized by different actors. Moreover, the workshop will introduce preliminary research results, including a virtual platform based on information and communications technology that facilitates the sharing of medical knowledge between researchers and local medical professionals.
